Jim Quimby Field - The "Q"
Situated amidst the shadow of OPSU's iconic water tower and nestled just east of baseball's Carroll Gribble Field is Panhandle State softball's home field, "The Q." Jim Quimby Field is named after longtime supporter and friend of the Aggies, Jim Quimby. Quimby graduated from Panhandle State in 1976, earning his Bachelor of Science while majoring in Animal Science and Production and minoring in Natural Science. Quimby was installed as a Lifetime Member of the OPSU Alumni Association in 2017, and he served as Senior Vice President at Bank of the Panhandle for many years.
The ballpark's capacity can hold about 500 spectators, including bleacher-style seating behind home plate and an abundance of open grass along the outfield fence. In addition to serving as the site for all OPSU softball games, "The Q" has hosted local high school softball games and numerous community events. The facility is home to a two-story press box, indoor and outdoor hitting cages, two spacious dugouts, and restrooms conveniently located behind the bleachers. In June 2026, the facility received a major upgrade with the groundbreaking of a new softball locker room.
